Although I haven't run across this particular line of thinking on the web or amongst KM periodicals etc., I'm a bit surprised that more attention hasn't been focused on the meaning of the phrase 'knowledge management' itself, on solving the puzzle.

The KM zeitgeist is looming. Bookstore shelves stock The Wealth of Knowledge, The Knowledge-Creating Company, Intellectual Capital, The Knowledge Evolution and more, as each new tome proffers another step towards understanding that most elusive of concepts - what is knowledge management, anyway?
